What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
I’ve been in the fitness space for a long time, and I’ve heard a lot of advice. Some of it was good, some of it was…
well, let’s just say it was less than good.
But there’s one piece of advice that stands out above all the others, a single concept that changed my entire approach to training, nutrition, and life itself. It wasn’t about a specific rep range, a supplement, or a trendy diet.
It was this: “The secret is in the consistency.”
This might sound simple, maybe even a little cliché, but hear me out. We are constantly searching for the “secret sauce”—the hack, the shortcut, the one thing that will give us a massive leap forward.
But what I’ve learned, and what this advice confirmed for me, is that there are no shortcuts.
The real progress, the lasting results, and the monumental changes all come from showing up. Every single day.
It’s the daily discipline of choosing the healthy meal, even when the alternative is tempting. It’s the commitment to get in that workout, even when you’re tired and the motivation isn’t there.
It’s the small, seemingly insignificant decisions that, when compounded over weeks, months, and years, lead to incredible transformations.
This applies not just to fitness, but to everything. My business, my relationships, my learning—all of it is built on a foundation of relentless, unsexy consistency.
The results don’t come from the one big thing you do, they come from the thousands of small things you do over and over again.
So, if you’re feeling stuck, if you’re looking for that “one trick,” stop searching. Focus on the basics.
Find your foundation, whatever that looks like for you, and commit to being consistent. It’s the hardest advice to take because it requires patience and discipline, but I can promise you, it’s the most effective. It’s the only real secret there is.
